Japan Supports Rafic Hariri University Hospital through Providing Infusion and Syringe Pumps for its Critical Care Units
Japan will extend 89,700 US dollars in grant to Rafic Hariri University Hospital in Beirut for equipping its critical care units with the infusion pumps and syringe pumps. On March 3, 2021, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Mr. Firas Abiad, Chairman of the Board of Rafik Hariri University Hospital.
Rafik Hariri University Hospital has long served as a prime hub of accessible, quality health care in Lebanon. Considering the hospital’s pivotal role in improving the standard of medical care in the Lebanese society, Japan has decided to support the hospital again through reinforcing the hospital’s critical care units. This Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program is expected to enable the hospital to provide more than 10,000 patients annually with more efficacious health care and also to reduce the burdens of the critical care units whose capacity is under enormous pressure from the coronavirus pandemic on a daily basis.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Firas Abiad, Chairman of the Board, expressed his sincere appreciation for the Japan’s continuous support to improve the health care services in Lebanon facing the unprecedented crises. On the other hand, Ambassador Okubo commended the hospital for its strong commitment to combatting the coronavirus pandemic and expressed his strong determination to support continuously Lebanese health sector.
