Japan Supports Karagheusian Primary Health care Center through Improving its Diagnostic Services Capacity
Japan will extend 89,948 US dollars in grant to Karagheusian Primary Healthcare Center for improving its diagnostic services capacity with lab equipment, oral hygiene and dental care equipment as well as rehabilitation. On March 3, 2021, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Mr. Serop Ohanian, Lebanon Field Director of Karagheusian Primary Healthcare Center.
Karagheusian Primary Healthcare Center has been providing affordable healthcare services to both Syrian refugees and their host communities in Bourj Hammoud in Matn district. However, in recent years, the Center and its satellite clinic have suffered from lack of necessary equipment for the medical laboratory and dental care unit. The grant, delivered through Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program, will help procure the medical equipment in need, thereby enabling more than 10,800 community members to have access to more efficacious medical examination and treatment.
At the signing ceremony, Serop Ohanian, Lebanon Field Director, appreciated that the grant aid would strengthen the healthcare center’s capacity to further ensure the access of the vulnerable community to the quality healthcare service. On the other hand, Ambassador Okubo commended the Center for it’s generous support to the vulnerable people including the Syrian refugees despite all the difficulties on the ground, and reaffirmed his firm determination to benefit those people in dire situation, considering that improving the standard of medical care in each community will contribute in realizing the social stability.
